DAY 1 : SUNDAY, 1ST SEPTEMBER, 2024
FOCUS : A SOLEMN ASSEMBLY
SCRIPTURE : JOEL 2:12 – 19
“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing grain offering and drink offerings for the Lord your God. Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber. Let the priests, who minister before the Lord, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say, “Spare your people, Lord. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” Then the Lord was jealous for his land and took pity on his people. The Lord replied[a] to them: “I am sending you grain, new wine and olive oil, enough to satisfy you fully; never again will I make you an object of scorn to the nations.
Reflection:
Prayer and fasting is a time of consecration to God and a solemn moment in His presence. As we begin to prepare our heart, mind and body in a posture of humility, repentance, spiritual hunger and gratitude towards God; believe He is faithful to His promises for us and that there is nothing that is impossible for Him to do.
Carve out some alone time with God and wait in His presence, listen for that still small voice (1 Kings 19:12b).
God has a plan and purpose for your life. Sometimes, this involves perseverance. It takes time for the vision to come to fruition. The vision God has for our life may look different than what we expect. Don’t give up. Don’t cave in. If we wait for it, it will come to pass, better than we could ever imagine!
PRAYER POINTS:
- Let us examine our hearts today. Search and see if there is anything that is hindering us
from completely surrendering to God. Repent and be restored.
- Pray and ask God to give you the strength to wait on him throughout the period of prayer and fasting. Psalm 27:14 Waiton the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
- Pray for a Spirit produced unity in our church that is built on the gospel.
- Pray we would be of “one heart and one mind,” as we each die to ourselves and embrace the call of God to a solemn assembly.
- Pray that we would find our identity, individually and corporately, in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Pray that God would give us an eagerness to protect unity in the universal body of Christ.
WEEK ONE (1) FOCUS: REPENTANCE AND RECONCILIATION
DAY 2 : MONDAY, 2ND SEPTEMBER 2024
FOCUS : FORGIVENESS I
SCRIPTURE : Psalm 32:1-2
Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. NIV
Devotional
According to the Scriptures, a time comes when God seems deaf to our prayers or helpless when we need help. The reason is simple: sin brings a separation between us and God, (Isaiah 59:1–2). Why would someone want to go through many days of prayer and fasting only to have their prayers bounce back to them without reaching God? Isn’t it too dangerous to live a life separated from God, knowing well that the enemy will take a quick advantage to come and steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10)?
The Psalmist saw the great need for one to receive forgiveness from God as first thing. Our blessedness, our happiness, our wellness – all depend on our finding favour with God and that is when our sins are completely forgiven so that we can access the presence of God. Let us begin this period of prayer and fasting with good reflection just to be sure there is no hidden sin that has the potential to deny us access to God and His blessing. Sin is not only what we commit physically for us to see but what we do with our spirits is equally important. There should be no form of deceit in our hearts or spirits because God sees and knows and so there should be no room for hypocrisy. May God be gracious to us and forgive us all our sins and answer our prayers even before the fasting period is over! Amen.
Prayer Points
YOUR PERSONAL LIFE:
Thank God for today’s devotion and His willingness to forgive your sins.
- Begin to confess every sin you have committed and every sin you have been convicted of by the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ Name (I John 1:9).
- Abba Father, according to Your unfailing love, have mercy on me, forgive and cleanse all my sins that will hinder my prayers from being answered in the name of Jesus (Ps. 51:1-2).
YOUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES:
- Pray and ask the Lord to forgive all the sins of your family members and loved ones in the name of Jesus.
- Intercede and ask God to restore your family members and loved ones back into fellowship with Him.
- Pray for the Lord’s forgiveness and deliverance for any teenager, youth and adult (mention their names) who feel that their sins cannot be forgiven and are in bondage because of their past.
CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH:
- Thank God for the leadership of Calvary Baptist Church and how far He has brought us as a church.
- Pray and ask God to show mercy to CBC and forgive the Church for everything we may not have done right in His sight as a church.
- Stand in the gap and ask God to cleanse all CBC members from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, so that we perfect holiness in the fear of God (II Corinthians 7:1).
THE BODY OF CHRIST (CHURCH UNIVERSAL):
- Pray that the universal church will flee from sin in the name of Jesus.
- Pray and ask God to cause the churches across the world to pursue perfect holiness in Jesus’ name (I Cor. 7:1b).
- Declare in prayer that the Universal Church will reverence God in Jesus’ name (I Cor. 7:1b).
NATIONAL ISSUES (GHANA):
- Thank God the for the peace, protection, and resources we enjoy as a nation.
- Pray and apply the blood of Jesus to cleanse all sins and innocent blood shed on the land that is calling out for vengeance in Jesus’ name.
- Pray and ask God to forgive the sins of the Nation and heal the land of Ghana in the name Jesus Christ (II Chro. 7:14).
GLOBAL ISSUES (WORLD AFFAIRS):
- Declare that, the Holy Spirit will convict the entire world of sin and of righteousness and of judgement in the name of Jesus (John 16:8).
- Pray and ask the power of the Holy Spirit to drive away every spirit that causes people to sin against God in Jesus’ name.
- Pray for people of the world to be saved and to believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God (John 16:10).
DAY 3 : TUESDAY, 3RD SEPTEMBER, 2024
FOCUS : FORGIVENESS II
SCRIPTURE : Psalm 32:3-5
When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord” and you forgave the guilt of my sin. NIV
Devotional:
Yesterday we saw the danger of unforgiven sin and the need to seek forgiveness. In the same Psalm, the Psalmist narrates the painful experience of keeping sin in him. When we keep quiet over sin especially when we think no one else sees, this is what happens: even our bones waste away (sin can give us health challenges); no peace or happiness but rather groaning; sleeplessness; loss of energy; the hand of God is heavy upon you and that means nothing works for you. The only way out is to acknowledge our sin before God and not try to cover up. And when we confess, He is faithful and just to not only forgive us but He goes ahead to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, (1 John 1:9). God forgives sin and also takes away the guilt that goes with it.
Many people have been forgiven their sins by God but they still carry guilt. Throughout this period of fasting and prayer, avail yourself of the freedom Jesus Christ offers when He forgives your sins because He said: “If the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed” John 8:36

YOUR PERSONAL LIFE:
Thank God for today’s devotion and pray as led by the Spirit.
- Pray and ask God to set you free from guilt and cause your body, soul and spirit to prosper (Prov. 28:13).
- Pray and petition God to create in you a clean heart, and also to renew a faithful spirit within you. (Psalm 51:10).
YOUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES:
- Ask God in prayer to help members of your family and friends to overcome the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life in Jesus’ name (1Jn. 2:16).
- Pray and Ask the Lord to reveal to your family members and loved ones any sin(s) that need to be confessed and repented from (Ps. 139:24).
CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH:
- Pray that CBC shall experience overflow of true repentance leading to revival and church growth.
- Pray for Senior Pastor Washington K. Darke and his family as led by the Holy Spirit.
- Pray for the rest of the Church Activities scheduled for the year to impact lives and draw souls to Christ Jesus.
THE BODY OF CHRIST (CHURCH UNIVERSAL):
- Pray for Ghana Baptist Convention Leadership that God will help them achieve what He has placed before them.
- Declare in prayer that the Lord will sanctify the Universal Church and cleanse her by the washing of water with Your word in the name of Jesus (Eph. 5:26).
- Declare in prayer that the Universal Church will be glorious and without blemish in Jesus’ name (Eph. 5:27).
NATIONAL ISSUES (GHANA):
- Pray that the Leadership of the nation; the Judiciary, Legislature, Executive arm of government’s decisions, actions and choices will promote national peace, growth, and stability.
- Pray for the Christian Caucus in the Parliament of Ghana to be bold and stand for the truth in the face of the
- Pray that the Lord will grant the media houses in Ghana wisdom and insight to communicate with integrity and truth in Jesus’ name.
GLOBAL ISSUES (WORLD AFFAIRS):
- Pray to God to provide avenues for world leaders who do not know Christ Jesus to come to the saving knowledge of Christ.
- Pray and ask God to bring all LGBTQ+ members and advocates across the world to the feet of the cross to be saved from the deception of the devil.
DAY 4: WEDNESDAY, 4TH SEPTEMBER 2024
FOCUS: REPENTANCE
SCRIPTURE: Luke 3:8-9
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” NIV
Devotional:
In spiritual matters, forgiveness doesn’t stand alone; it is based on repentance. Repentance simply means turning away from sin which you see as wrong or evil and are sorry for committing it and turning to the Lord. True repentance must have evidence. Anyone who has truly repented bears good fruit, fruit that abides, (John 15:16). It is therefore not in anyone’s interest to go about bragging that they are born again or are Christians. The only thing that testifies to our being born again is when we turn a new leaf.
The Pharisees boasted that they belonged to Abraham. Some people choose to boast about their denomination and they assume that once they go to a “good” church, they are good or are on their way to heaven. God is not short of true worshippers and so we should not try to deceive anyone. A day will come when the ax that is already at the root of the trees will eventually bring the trees down. Will you be standing when God strikes? Check your life to see what fruit and how much of it that you are bearing since you became a Christian, just to be sure you are in good standing before God. May God help us to practice true repentance evidenced by good deeds!

YOUR PERSONAL LIFE:
Praise the Lord for today’s devotion and declare, Holy Spirit help me to repent from my sins.
- Pray and ask for the help of Holy Spirit to turn you back to the Lord and help you to bear good fruit that will remain and last in Jesus’ name (John 15:16).
- Pray and ask God to help you to bear the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, Gal. 5:22-23) in Jesus’ name.
YOUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES:
- Intercede and ask God to bring your backsliding family members and friends to come to a place of repentance in Jesus’ name (II Peter 3:9)
- Pray and ask God to give your family members and friends the grace to resist all evil and temptations that comes their way in the name of Jesus.
CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH:
- Pray for the immediate past Senior Pastor and his entire family for God’s direction and favour.
- Pray for the Director-Department of Ministry, Director-Department of Ministry Enhancement and all the Sectional Heads and their staff. Ask God to grant them good health and guide them to fulfill God’s task in their respective roles.
- Pray for all CBC Pastors, their spouses and children in the name of Jesus (pray as led by the Spirit of God).
THE BODY OF CHRIST (CHURCH UNIVERSAL):
- Pray for Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), Scripture Union (SU) and Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students (GHAFES), and Bible Society of Ghana that their impact and mandate will be great in Ghana.
- Pray for the Body of Christ to bear much fruits among all other religions in Jesus’ name.
- Pray that Jesus Christ will be glorified in the churches across the globe.
NATIONAL ISSUES (GHANA):
- Pray against all occultic agenda to recruit students from Primary, Junior and Senior High Schools and tertiary into their fraternity.
- Pray for resources for Scripture Union (SU) and GHAFES to be able to reach out to students in all levels of our educational system.
GLOBAL ISSUES (WORLD AFFAIRS):
- Pray for all Christians in Iran, Pakistan and India to continue to have comfort, courage and hope in God.
- Pray that the Lord will dispel darkness, anguish and sufferings in these Countries.
- Pray that the light of the Lord will break forth.
DAY 5: THURSDAY, 5TH SEPTEMBER 2024
FOCUS: RECONCILIATION I
SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 5:10-11
For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Devotional:
When sin that separates us from God is taken away through forgiveness, it paves the way for reconciliation. In other words, we are brought back to fellowship with God (and sometimes to those we offended too). All this becomes possible through the death of Christ Jesus our Lord, Halleluiah! We all started as enemies of God until Christ stepped in to save us and brought us back into fellowship with God. This fasting and prayer time can be very useful if we will find ourselves as really reconciled to God and to other people. We should be at peace with people, with ourselves and more importantly with God. We should be able to go back to the kind of fellowship we used to have with God before backsliding or lukewarm lifestyle set in. Our love for God must be rekindled. We should seek getting closer to God more than dwelling on asking for material or physical blessings.
There is a place for asking for the blessings but what will you do with them when you don’t have the presence of God overshadowing you? When you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, then all other things become a bonus for you, Matt 6:33. It is your divine right to enjoy fellowship with Christ after you have received reconciliation. Fight back for the joy of the Lord you may have lost because there are bigger packages for you following the reconciliation. Halleluiah!

YOUR PERSONAL LIFE:
Praise the Lord for sending Jesus Christ to save you, your family and loved ones.
- Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to rekindle your love for Jesus Christ and also help you to know Him and His ways every single day of your life.
- I decree and declare that, I will seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all other things will be given to me abundantly (Matt. 6:33).
YOUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES:
- Pray for all lukewarm family members and friends to be on fire for the Lord in Jesus’ name.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit will help your loved ones and family members who have been unfaithful in so many ways to return to the Lord as a treasured possession in Jesus’ name.

- Pray for all CBC Deacons, their spouses and children in the name of Jesus (pray as led by the Spirit of God).
- Pray for all Shepherds, Sunday School teachers, Children’s service teachers, Choir Director/tress, Choir, Instrumentalists, Ushers, Technical team etc and their spouses in the name of Jesus (pray as led by the Spirit of God).
- Pray for the growth of WMU, Men’s Ministry, Baptist Young Ladies (BYL), Girls Auxiliary (GA), Royal Ambassadors (RA) and Sunbeam in the Church.
THE BODY OF CHRIST (CHURCH UNIVERSAL):
- Pray and ask God for His restorative power on those who are sick and suffering in the body of Christ.
- Ask for God’s healing Grace to flow through every member bringing physical, emotional and spiritual renewal.
- Pray against every carnality that may be creeping into the body of Christ.
NATIONAL ISSUES (GHANA):
- Pray for the Speaker of Parliament to lead the Parliamentarians with wisdom, godly counsel and boldness to take right decisions for the nation.
- Pray and ask God to bring unity among the various political parties in Ghana especially the NPP and NDC.
- Pray for the influence of the Holy Spirit on the Elders of the Council of State as they help the President by providing good counsel.
GLOBAL ISSUES (WORLD AFFAIRS):
- Pray for peace and hope to abound in places affected by natural disasters like flood, drought and forest fires.
- Pray for areas suffering as a result of deforestation, particularly in El Rio Platano Biosphere Reserves and World Heritage site in Honduras.
DAY 6: FRIDAY, 6TH SEPTEMBER 2024
FOCUS: RECONCILIATION II
SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 5:18 – 20
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. NIV
Devotional:
In these few scriptural verses, the word ‘reconcile or reconciliation’ appears 5 times. That should tell you about its importance to God. Salvation is by God alone but He doesn’t do the execution Himself; He involves us whom He has honoured by appointing us as His ambassadors. We cannot benefit fully from fasting if we encourage selfishness in our way of doing things. We become selfish if we don’t work to get other people to be reconciled to God also. As we fast and pray, let us do well to also pray for the salvation of loved ones and neighbours. God is not satisfied blessing only a few. In fact, He wants all people to be saved, i.e. reconciled to Him. Do we care that attendance to church in Calvary or elsewhere is still going down? Do we also care that not many people come forward to receive Christ during church services?
There is much we can do to advance the kingdom of God. Bringing people to Christ can be as simple as inviting them to church. Again, as ambassadors, our life can portray the image of Christ in us and that could bring someone to be reconciled to Christ. This fasting period is a good opportunity to get more people reconciled to God as we play our role as ambassadors for Christ. We should not disappoint Him.
Prayer Point:
YOUR PERSONAL LIFE:
Thank God for today’s devotion and pray as led by the Holy Spirit.
- Pray and ask God for an open door for Evangelism and Soul winning to populate the Kingdom of God (I Cor. 16:9).
- Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you depict the image of Christ to draw and reconcile many people to Christ Jesus.
YOUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES:
- Pray against the spirit of pride, arrogance and ignorance in the life of your family and loved ones that is preventing their salvation
- Pray and mention the name of a family member or friend that needs to come to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus. Pray for him or her to be delivered from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light (I Pet. 2:9).

- Pray for Rev. Felix Owusu as he leads the Christian Education and Discipleship Ministry that God will use him and his team to produce sound Christian literature and growth.
- Pray for Rev. Newell Ametorwobla as he leads Congregational Care and Assimilation Ministry that God will use him and his team to help provide pastoral care for all CBC members.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit will convict lost souls to respond to altar call made during service(s)across the campuses.
THE BODY OF CHRIST (CHURCH UNIVERSAL):
- Pray for the Executives and all member Churches under the Baptist World Alliance for God to help fulfill their mission.
- Pray that the Baptist work across the globe will bear much fruit to God’s glory
- Thank God and pray for the following Denominations: Presbyterian Church, the Evangelical Presby, the Global Evangelical Church, Church of Pentecost, Assemblies of God Church in our nation. Pray for their leaders that God guides them to project Christ Jesus in the Nation.
NATIONAL ISSUES (GHANA):
- Thank God and pray for the private sector of our Nation to come out with creative and innovative ideas that will boost the economy and create job opportunities.
- Thank God and pray for the Regional House of Chiefs to provide transformational leadership across the Regions and not take political sides.
- Pray against territorial powers assigned to our borders, seaports and airports.
GLOBAL ISSUES (WORLD AFFAIRS):
- Pray for South Africa and her nationals, Zimbabwe and her citizens, Angola and her nationals for God to rule in their affairs.
- Pray for the President and people of Malaysia, North Korea and Kuwait.
DAY 7: SATURDAY, 7TH SEPTEMBER 2024
FOCUS: RESTORATION
SCRIPTURE: Luke 9:11
But when the crowds learned of it, [they] followed Him; and He welcomed them and talked to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed restoration to health. AMP
Devotional:
Restoration means bringing something back to its original state. A sick person gets restored to health after they have been cured or fully treated. Many things in our lives can go wrong and it takes much effort and the grace of God to get restoration. Unless you fight hard and persistently, you may not get what you have lost. Do you remember the woman with the flow of blood for 12 years? She had to break protocol and tradition to get restoration to good health. Some battles you are fighting may have to be intensified in order to see a change. The natural thing for the enemy to do is to take away what you cherish (such as good health, material things including money, etc.) because he is a thief.
In the spiritual realms too, you need restoration – restoration of joy, happiness, zeal, anointing, etc. How has your prayer life been of late? How about your bible study practice? And your zeal in witnessing for Christ? Your attendance to fellowship? There could be need for restoration of some of those things you excelled in the past. This is a good period to take back all that you have lost. When they are restored, do well to protect them well because the one (satan) who is jealous of you hasn’t gone to sleep. Pray without ceasing.
Prayer Points:
YOUR PERSONAL LIFE:
Praise the God of restoration for today’s devotion and pray as led by the Holy Spirit.
- Thank God and pray for the restoration of the joy of salvation (Ps. 51:12) into the following spiritual exercise (i.e. bible study/devotional life, prayer life, fellowship life, fasting, giving, meditation, soul wining, service, etc.)
- Pray for good health and restoration of all material blessings that the enemy has destroyed or stolen from you (Joel 2:25).
YOUR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES:
- Pray and ask God to empower your friends and family members to walk in holiness, purity, integrity and complete obedience to fulfill their purposes in life.
- Thank God and pray for the restoration of your family and friends back to fruitful fellowship with God, and cause them to dwell in the secret place and abide under the shadow of the Almighty God (Psalm 91:1).
CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH:
- Pray that God will lead us to achieve over and above our budget for this year. Pray that Church members will experience God’s abundant blessings and be faithful in their tithes, offerings and redeeming of pledges.
- Pray for Mrs. Miriam Gadagbo as she leads the Human Resource and General Services Section of CBC and her team to render services to the glory of God. Ask God to grant them good health and bless them.
- Pray for Mr. Theodore Gborfu as he leads the Treasury Section of CBC and his team, for God to help them handle, invest and manage the financial resources of the CBC. Ask God to bless them and their families.
THE BODY OF CHRIST (CHURCH UNIVERSAL):
- Pray for indigenous traditional Churches to encounter Christ Jesus and to preach the true gospel to their large followers in the Nation
- Pray for more workers or labourers to join in the harvest field; who will serve without looking for applause of people or for material gains. Pray for all the pulpits being used to reach out to souls for the Kingdom of God.
NATIONAL ISSUES (GHANA):
- Pray against the increase of sexual promiscuity among teens and youth in our Nation. Pray against the various forms of deception and enticement offered on silver platter to university students on Campuses.
- Pray and crush any “strange altars” over households, communities, the seat of government and churches.
- Pray for the professional bodies and institutions in our nation to display a high sense of patriotism, accountability and best professional practices.
GLOBAL ISSUES (WORLD AFFAIRS):
- Many international celebrities live in fear, depression and emptiness in their souls despite their fame and riches. Pray that Jesus Christ, the “Bread of life” and the true “fulfillment” will reveal Himself to them.
- Pray for certain parts of the world where Christianity is strongly rejected and opposed. Pray that the Holy Spirt will work upon the nations where Missionaries are persecuted and killed.
DAY 8: SUNDAY, 8TH SEPTEMBER 2024
FOCUS: RESTITUTION
SCRIPTURE: Luke 19:8-10
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” NIV
Devotional:
Restitution is sometimes used interchangeably with restoration but actually it is more about compensation for losses or injury. When you have enjoyed the grace of God through forgiveness, repentance, reconciliation and restoration, there is a responsibility for you to do to make your salvation or fellowship with God complete. Restitution is a fruit bearing that testifies about the change in you.
No one told Zacchaeus to promise paying back four times what he had unlawfully taken from people. He understood salvation to also mean making right with people we have offended. During this fasting period, can you have a full reconciliation with your spouse, parent, child or colleague by adding a restitution? Can you think of some compensation to make for the harm you may have caused somebody? It shouldn’t be like you are bribing the person; you are rather sharing with them what you now have. Even with God, you must do restitution. You must now give more of your time, resources, experiences and expertise, etc. to God as a sign that you appreciate what God has done for you, particularly the forgiveness you have received. We must learn to be less materialistic just as Zacchaeus saw the need not to dwell on chasing wealth. Our prayer focus should be asking God to help us to be more heavenly minded from now on. We must also learn to value people more than materials. Work on your family and friendship for better relationship – pay your restitution.

Devotional
Hunger by definition is ‘having a strong DESIRE or CRAVING for something’. Every human being by creation has an inherent desire within to be hungry for things. It may be for food when one has not had anything to eat, a desire to achieve a goal to satisfy a conviction or the zeal to pursue something. This is how the Lord wired us- We are ‘go-getters’. The same concept applies in the spiritual realm and for that matter, in the life of the Christian.
According to the above scripture, Spiritual hunger can be defined as the deep longing and thirst after the presence of and fellowship with God. We can further put it this way, it is the yearning for more of God’s presence, power and love in our lives.
As part of our goal to understand spiritual hunger, we must first speak of its nature and in doing that, we ought to understand that spiritual hunger is not a human invention or making but rather a divine gift. We must know that it is God who starts and stirs this hunger in our hearts to draw closer to Him. Since it is a God-inspired experience, we must rely on Him to lead us through it.
May the Holy Spirit grant you understanding even as you fast and pray today!

FOCUS: BIBLICAL FOUNDATION FOR SPIRITUAL HUNGER (1)
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 5:6
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
Devotional:
It is noteworthy that Jesus said those who hunger and thirst will be blessed. In other words, He is laying the premise that, to be blessed spiritually and in all facets of your life, you must be hungry and thirsty and desire earnestly after righteousness (spiritual hunger). This forms one of the foundations and tenets in the discussion of spiritual hunger.
The scripture as quoted above spells out two important words and we shall elaborate on one of them today and discuss the other tomorrow. The first word Jesus used is ‘Hunger’ and its root word is ‘peinaó’ which means ‘to seek with eager desire. When it comes to our walk with God, the place of seeking and eagerly searching for intimacy and a relationship with Him is very key. Spread across the Bible are many Scriptures that allude to this assertion that it is very important as believers, the need to cultivate and grow a hunger for the things of the Spirit. May the Lord help us in developing this hunger.

Devotional:
Yesterday, we discussed the biblical foundation on the topic of spiritual hunger. We touched on one of two important words Jesus mentioned in Matthew 5:6 – Hunger. Today, we will discuss the next key word Jesus used and that is; ‘Thirst’. Thirst, by definition is ‘a want and eager desire (for something); a craving or longing’. Jesus, in His explanation in Matthew 5:6 stresses on scriptures’ elaboration of the matter of spiritual hunger. When a person is thirsty for water, he/she does everything to satisfy that craving because at some point, his/her life probably will depend on it. Jesus is teaching us that just like a man will search for water because he is thirsty, so is the believer’s spiritual thirst and hunger to be for the Lord because it is He alone that can truly satisfy us in all ways.
Our focal text for today, corroborates our assertion. The deer is often chased after by predators and is always on the run, climbing hills and jumping over heights and will get tired and need water to refresh itself and regain its strength. Just like the deer, your true self, your soul, will only be satisfied if only we thirst after nothing but the Lord only. Not only will we thirst after Him, He shall surely fill us.

Yesterday, we finished the discussion on the Biblical foundation of Spiritual hunger. Today, we look at the significance of Spiritual hunger in the life of the believer;
- It deepens your intimacy with God and enables you to know His heart and ways at deeper levels.
- It positions you to receive fresh revelation and encounter the supernatural dimensions of God’s power.
- It also sustains you during spiritual warfare and battles and in seasons or trials and testing. In other words, spiritual hunger keeps you focused on seeking God no matter what may come your way.
Jeremiah 29:13 says; “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart”. The more we seek the Lord with all our heart, the Lord promises us that we shall find Him and in the presence of the Lord, we receive revelations, safety from all forms of attacks and above all, we have the blessing of divine intimacy with Him.

We continue today with the significance of spiritual hunger. As we did yesterday, let us consider two other importance of spiritual hunger;
- Spiritual hunger causes your heart to be tender and receptive to the move of the Holy Spirit and makes you more sensitive to His voice and leading
- It enables you to walk in greater spiritual authority to see breakthrough in your life and that of others close to you.
As you read through, may the Lord help you to walk in the reality and blessing that comes with spiritual hunger and seeking hard after the Lord.

FOCUS: CULTIVATING SPIRITUAL HUNGER
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 7:7
“Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and you will find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you”
Devotional:
Hunger, by nature, is a continuous event. We do not stop eating because we were satisfied with yesterday’s meal. Each day, we must eat to live and grow in good health. This is the same and probably much more with regards to spiritual hunger. The matter of cultivation connotes the place of consistency and as children of God, we must be consistent in growing and developing the habit and character of earnestly seeking after the Lord. Our discussion today will share three (3) areas to consider in cultivating a spiritual hunger.
- Ask the Lord for it
Matthew 7:7 say; “Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and you will find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you”. As earlier established, God is the originator of Spiritual hunger and it is He who can spark, stir and cause it to grow within you. When you ask Him for it, He surely will give it to you.
- Make time for fellowship
Just as we make time to eat and satisfy our hunger, we must also make time to fellowship with our Lord in His presence. We must do well to discipline ourselves by avoiding destructions and anything that will quench your spiritual hunger.
- Invest in your spiritual hunger
One of the surest ways to cultivate and yield benefits from your spiritual hunger is to invest in it. This can be done by reading, studying and listening to Christian literature and materials to necessitate your spiritual growth and hunger for that matter.
May the Lord help us to cultivate our hunger for Him. Amen!

- Pray for the peace of God to prevail in our upcoming elections in December, that the will of God will be established for Ghana.
- Pray for the Electoral Commissioner and the Commission that God will guide them as they carry out their mandate for a free and fair elections.

- Pray for global political stability, that world leaders will be temperate in their dealings with other nations.

DAY 15: SUNDAY, 15TH SEPTEMBER 2024
FOCUS: SATISFYING SPIRITUAL HUNGER
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 107:9
“For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry with goodness…”
Devotional:
Throughout this week, we have learnt about the Nature, Foundation, Significance and Cultivation of Spiritual Hunger and we have seen how important it is to us as believers and its imperative role in our Christian pursuit. As every person would satisfy his/her hunger for food or the achievement of a strong desire, the Christian must avail him/herself to pursue deep and consistent fellowship with the Lord. I can simply put it like this; “The reward for Spiritual Hunger is more hunger”. The more you long after and fellowship with the Lord, the more He reveals Himself to you.
There are two truths to understand in Satisfying your hunger for the Lord;
- God is the ONLY source of true Satisfaction
God ALONE is the source of satisfaction for our spiritual hunger. Since He is the Originator of it, He alone can fill this deep longing desire and hunger in our hearts towards Him. This is affirmed by the words of the psalmist in Psalm 107:9; “For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry with goodness…”
- The role of the Holy Spirit
According to John 16:13-14, Jesus told the disciples that when He, the Spirit of Truth comes, He would lead and guide them (Disciples and all believers) into all truth. The Holy Spirit’s crucial role in the satisfaction of this hunger comes through His guidance and leadership in fellowshipping truly with God and His empowerment in our lives to live godly.
May the Lord help us to stay continually in His presence as we pursue Him and He satisfies us with Himself daily.

- Pray that the world will experience the love of God in its fullness and not relate with each other based on skin colour or language.

FOCUS: ABIDING IN HIS PRESENCE
Scripture: John 15:4
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you.”
Devotional:
Beloved in the Lord as we begin this week’s journey, let’s anchor ourselves in the tender words of Jesus. “Remain in me” – a gentle invitation to abide in His presence. What does it mean to abide in Christ? To abide in His presence means; Resting in His love, knowing we are accepted and cherished, Trusting in His guidance, Surrendering our worries and fears and Drawing strength from His wisdom. Beloved, as we abide in Christ this week may we experience His peace(Philippians 4:7) and grow in Intimacy that deepens our relationship with Him (Psalm 16:11).
Take a moment to reflect:
– How often do I intentionally seek God’s presence?
-What distracts me from abiding in Christ?
– What are the benefits I’ve experienced when I’ve remained in Him?
Child of God, may your experience be unique this week as you abide in His presence.

- Pray that those who have gone after strange idols and gods put their trust in Jesus.

Yesterday, we explored the beauty of abiding in His presence. Today, let’s discover the power that comes from that presence. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – a declaration of confidence in His empowering presence.
To be empowered by His power means: Recognizing our limitations and surrendering to His strength.Trusting in His ability to equip us for every task and to depend on His power to overcome challenges and obstacles.Universally, science establishes the fact that Power is “the ability to do work”. Therefore, to complete a simple task, journey or milestone, power is required (1Kings 18:44-46). As believers our empowerment or source of power stems from Christ Jesus – our source. As you decide to fast and pray this week, your inner man is being empowered for greater works and that which was impossible yesterday is now become a thing if the past (Mat 19:26, Eph 3:20). Your healing is here and your breakthrough is assured for His Power is working in and through you in Jesus name, Amen.

Yesterday, we explored the power that comes from His presence. Today, let’s dive deeper into the importance of resting in His presence. In a world filled with noise and distractions, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, especially in Accra-Ghana today. But God invites us to be still, to quiet our minds and hearts, and to rest in His presence.This can be achieved when we decide to let go of our worries and fears and trust in His sovereignty and control over our lives. As we rest in His presence within this period of fasting and prayer, may you Hear His gentle whisper guiding you, feel His comforting touch of healing and experience His joy and peace in your families, businesses, marriages and everything you are engaged in. Beloved take a moment to reflect:
– Where do I need to be still and trust God’s presence in my life?
– What are the distractions that keep me from resting in His presence?
– How can I make time to be still and know that He is God?
I’ll leave you with these encouraging words from Moses to the Israelites in Deuteronomy 33:25,27 (KJV)
“As thy days, so shall thy strength be…. And the Lord shall give thee rest from all thy enemies round about, according to all that he hath promised: and the Lord shall give thee rest from all thy enemies, and thou shalt dwell safely.”

FOCUS: The Power of the Holy Spirit*
SCRIPTURE: ACTS 1:8
Jesus promised His disciples, “You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you.” This promise was not just for the disciples, but for all believers.
Devotional:
A 22-year-old lady Adwoa-Borga, a Christian who unfortunately didn’t know much about the operations of the Holy Ghost, lived in a village plagued by darkness and fear. An old Evangelist preached about the Holy Spirit’s power, shouting day and night, “You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you.” Adwoa-Borga, after many weeks of hearing, this preacher decided to seek God to find out if she could also function with such power as described by the preacher. Night and day, she prayed fervently, and one morning, she felt a gentle wind blow through her soul, filling her with energy and boldness. With newfound power, Adwoa-Borga shared the Gospel, healed the sick, and cast out demons. The villagers were amazed knowing Adwoa-borga as a quiet introvert and soon prayed for the Holy Spirit’s power, too. The village was transformed, and darkness was replaced with light.
Beloved, the Holy Spirit’s power is not just a feeling or an emotion, but a tangible force that enables us to live a life that honours God. This power allows us to Witness boldly (Acts 1:8), Live victoriously over sin (Romans 8:13), Love unconditionally (Galatians 5:22-23), Heal the sick and brokenhearted (Luke 4:18) etc.
Within this season of prayer and fasting, I see you walking in another realm of His power in every facet of your life in the name of Jesus Christ.

FOCUS: TRUSTING IN HIS PRESENCE

Trust in Him at all times, oh people; pour out your heart to Him.
Devotional:
In Accra-Ghana recently, we are observing a very unstable weather condition across the nation. It can be very sunny now and within a matter of minutes experience the outpouring of the rains. Its sometimes disrupts our plans and agenda for the day; sorry if you’ve ever been a victim of that. Most often, in such unpleasant circumstances, we see people trying to find shelter or comfort under canopies, umbrellas, or buildings to cover themselves from the rain.
The presence of God is like a canopy or umbrella that you can hide under and find comfort. Moses had a certain understanding of what the presence of God meant to him and concluded, “If your presence won’t go with us, Carry us not up hence” (Exodus 33:15). Beloved, you can trust in God’s assurance of His Presence to intervene and protect you even in the midst of the storms (Mark 4:38-39).
Do you feel lonely and rejected sometimes? Are you struggling to fully surrender your life, business, and family issues to God’s hands? As we consecrate ourselves to God within these periods of prayer and fasting, we can trust in His presence with us. God promises to be with us always, guiding, comforting, and empowering us, and because he is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19), we can trust in His presence. Child of God, may you find peace in uncertain times (Isaiah 41:10), courage and wisdom for decision-making (Proverbs 3:5-6) and strength in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9-10) because He is a dependable God.
Make these declarations:

We are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us.
Devotional:
Throughout all creation, God’s ultimate desire is to establish His Will on earth, just as it is in Heaven. He accomplishes this through individuals who have fully surrendered to His leading. From Adam to Abraham, Daniel to Jesus, and to us today, God continues to seek men and women who are sold out to His Kingdom purposes. He desires to manifest Himself through us, extending His dominion and power on earth.
However, establishing God’s dominion on earth requires power. Thankfully, our God is all-powerful (Jeremiah 32:27). Jesus demonstrated this power when He submitted Himself to death on the cross, providing us with the opportunity to share in His dominion and power through the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8).
As ambassadors for Christ, we are empowered to manifest God’s power in every aspect of life. Paul emphasizes that God makes His appeal through us, His representatives. We are entrusted with the responsibility to extend God’s Kingdom on earth.
Today, pray for the empowerment of the Spirit and go forth in His might. Manifest God’s power by being an ambassador for Christ, desiring to see His Kingdom expand. Remember, God is looking to you to establish His Kingdom on earth.

FOCUS: GLORIFYING HIS PRESENCE

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Devotional:
As followers of Christ, we are called to be beacons of light in a world filled with darkness. Our lives should radiate the presence of God, reflecting His love, grace, and mercy. In Matthew 5:16, Jesus encourages us to let our light shine before others, so they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven.
In a small village, there was a young girl who lived a humble life. She had a small candle that her grandmother had given her, which she kept lit every night. One evening, a severe storm hit the village, causing widespread darkness and fear. As the winds howled and rain pounded against her window, her candle flickered but remained lit. Her neighbors, seeking comfort and safety, knocked on her door. She welcomed them in, and soon her small room was filled with people seeking refuge.
The candle’s gentle light illuminated the faces of the frightened villagers, bringing them peace and calm. The young lady shared stories, sang hymns, and offered words of encouragement, inspiring hope in the midst of the storm.
From that day on, her candle became a symbol of hope in the village. People would say, “Let your light shine like the young lady and you will eliminate the darkness.”
Child of God may you receive a new burden and appetite in this season of waiting on the Lord to reflect the light of God everywhere you go by living a life that is transparent and authentic, revealing the presence of God within us and always available to use our gifts, talents, and abilities to serve others and bring glory to God.

- Intercede for the youth especially the Gen Zs to be spiritually alert to the repackaged and innovative betting, gambling, drug abuse and immorality schemes causing hidden addictions that are difficult to break from. Pray that the youth of Ghana remember God in the days of their youth.
- Pray that the growing disrespect of elders among the youth in Ghana would be reversed to assist with building good relationship that enables transfer of knowledge and experiences that promote the fear of God.
- Heavenly Father, I pray that the youth will be ignited for revival in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Our attitude of gratitude determines the depth of our love for God and level of appreciation for all the manifold blessings He bestows on us. The greatest gift from God to humanity is His Son Jesus Christ! Our best expression of gratitude for this ETERNAL GIFT is to first and foremost accept Jesus Christ into our lives and become His disciples.
When we become His disciples, there is the need to always rejoice for what He did for us by atoning for our past and future sins, rejoice for the things He is doing presently in our lives because He daily loads us with benefits and rejoice for where He is taking us to in the future (Heaven). Our gratitude must be expressed through continuous prayer, singing of hymns, praise, adoration and thanksgiving in ALL circumstances whether good or bad. When we focus daily on the Author and Finisher of our Faith and count our blessings, the things of this world will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. This should evoke contentment and intentional gratitude.

And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Devotional:
As disciples of Christ, we are expected to emulate the life and teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our Lord often went to the synagogues, where He taught the word, sang hymns and also read the Psalms. Just before His crucifixion which brought us peace, Jesus ate the Last Supper with His disciples and after the meal they sung a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives (Mt.26:30). On the cross he recited Psalm 22:1.
Jesus publicly expressed His gratitude to God through thanksgiving when He fed the five thousand (Jn. 6:11), when He raised Lazarus from the dead (Jn. 11:41-42) and at the Last Supper (Lk 22:19). These are worthy examples for the believer to emulate. In Ps.103, David joyfully expresses his gratitude to God for His faithfulness and acts of benevolence. Singing is contagious! As we lift a spirit inspired hymn or song unto the Lord, the person next to you will be “infected’. As we allow the Word of God to richly dwell in us, we can’t help but to share it. The Lord helps us as we do this with all sincerity of heart.

Zig Ziglar once said ‘It is Gratitude, not aptitude that determines our altitude” Gratitude is a morale and ethical virtue which every human being must cultivate and exhibit.
The disciple of Christ is more obliged to express his or her gratitude first to God on a daily basis and to others for acts of love and kindness shown them. Expressing gratitude is an act of contentment, inner joy and peace for the goodness and other deeds of benevolence we receive. Gratitude has the potential of opening other doors of opportunity to us. The one leper who returned to praise God for his cleansing received a further dose of God’s blessings by being made well or whole whereas the ungrateful nine went away only cleansed! In other words, they still carried the scares of leprosy with them.
Ingratitude is a defiance of God’s power and sovereignty over our lives and this attitude leaves us depleted of God\s blessings. May we pray for grace to be grateful at all times for this is the will of God for us.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.
Devotional
Anxiety is one of the highest mental illnesses that has plagued the world in recent times. According to a W.H.O fact sheet, in 2019, 301 million people were living with an anxiety disorder including 58 million children and adolescents. The report stated that “anxiety disorders are characterized by excessive fear and worry and related behavioral disturbances’
God in His infinite wisdom, long ago provided a solution to anxiety in His word. (Phil. 4:6-7). Anxiety drains our energy, makes us restless, not able to think clearly and make good decisions and makes us unproductive. God’s best and effective antidote is prayer, petition, and thanksgiving. Sounds simplistic! But this is the Word of God; it is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Heb.4:12)
Paul learned the secret of being content in any and every situation. This secret lies in his faith and resoluteness in all circumstances, knowing that the one who called him is faithful!
Child of God there is divine health in expressing gratitude to God. Ps. 107:20-22 says “He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy”.
Indeed “What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry, Everything to God in prayer! Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer! – GBH 126
Let us trust, obey and act on the Living Word of God.

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 92
It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.4 For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. How great are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts! Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand,7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever.8 But you, Lord, are forever exalted. For surely your enemies, Lord, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me. My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;13 planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”
Devotional:
What a beautiful psalm of praise, worship and adoration! Indeed, it is good to praise the Lord and make music to the name of the Most High. A grateful and content believer bursts forth into praise first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
Our God does not slumber nor sleep, neither does he allow the sun to smite us by day nor the moon by night. God is at work in our lives 24/7! He watches over our going out and our coming in. His presence is with us, His protection is upon us wherever we go and He daily supplies all our needs. God fights unseen battles on our behalf for which we must be grateful. Elisha’s servant saw an army with horses and chariots surrounding the city and cried out in fear “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Elisha prayed to the Lord to open his servant’s eyes so that he may see. “Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. God indeed is the captain of our warfare!
In Isa. 49:25-26 NLT the Lord says, “The captives of warriors will be released, and the plunder of tyrants will be retrieved. For I will fight those who fight you, and I will save your children.26 I will feed your enemies with their own flesh. They will be drunk with rivers of their own blood. All the world will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel.”
Child of God, as you travel in commercial vehicles or drive on our busy highways, go to bed and wake up to see the light of a new day, who cannot fathom the spiritual battles that the Lord has fought on your behalf! Therefore, be grateful and give Him the glory.

For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the desert, where your fathers tested and tried me, though they had seen what I did. For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways.” So I declared on oath in my anger, “They shall never enter my rest.”
Devotional:
Gratitude is an act of worship in which we acknowledge God’s greatness, kingship and sovereignty. Today’s scripture reading exposes us to some unique elements which must characterize our worship as we come before the Lord to express our gratitude to Him.
- Singing: A grateful heart must approach God with songs of joy. Songs connect us emotionally; as we come before the Lord and celebrate Him joyfully, we are spiritually and emotionally connected to God. our hearts, minds and soul get focused on God to glorify Him.
- Enthusiasm: We must approach God enthusiastically in expressing our gratitude. Nothing should hinder or suppress our worship; we are permitted to use varying tones including shouts of joy (Ezra3: 10-11).
- In His presence: Our gratitude must be expressed in His presence and in humility there should be no place for boasting or self-exultation. We must be small before God because our God is a Great God and King above all gods.
This will be continued tomorrow. Reflect on the three above and consider practical ways you can implement these unique elements in showing gratitude to God.

For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the desert, where your fathers tested and tried me, though they had seen what I did. For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways.” So I declared on oath in my anger, “They shall never enter my rest.”
Devotional:
Yesterday we considered three (3) areas out of the five (5). Today, we will continue with the two (2) that are left
- Bowing and kneeling down: As we come before our great God and King to express our gratitude, we must express our reverence for Him by bowing and kneeling before Him bearing in mind that we are nor bowing or kneeling before an earthly king or an image of wood or stone, but before the Maker of the heavens and the earth.
- Gratitude for His creation: Child of God, we have an obligation to be grateful for the things that the Creator has created! Vs. 5 to 7 mention a few of God’s creation. Child of God look around you, there is enough of God’s creation for which we must be grateful! -The air we breathe, the rivers, the sun, moon and stars the forests and birds that make beautiful melodies early in the morning.
A popular worship song goes like this “When I look up the mountains, I look down the valleys when I look at the sea, oh my Lord, you are God” ….
There is enough around us to be grateful for. May we not grumble and repeat the sin of the Israelites at Meribah!

- Thank God for children who were abducted by terrorist groups but now have reunited with their parents and families
- Thank God for the godly leaders He is raising all over the world

FOCUS: A TIME OF THANKSGIVING
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 100
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Reflection:
Praise God! today marks the end of our thirty days of fasting and prayer. Yesterday’s reflection gave us enough meat to be joyful and worship the Lord with gladness of heart. There is no better way to express our gratitude to God than entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
In these past thirty days of waiting on the Lord, He has surely done so much for us individually and corporately as a Church. Is your mouth filled with praise and your heart full of thanksgiving?
As you enter His sanctuary this morning, count your blessings, name them one by one and you will see what the Lord has done. Thank the Lord for all His goodness; thank Him for His steadfast love which never ceases and thank Him for His faithfulness. Shalom.

- Thank God for sports men and women who have declared their stand as Christians, pray that they will influence the world for Christ.
